Atlas series (2010-2022)
Atlas series is made of ink drawings on acetate rolls. Conceptually, it is a continually unfolding field of abstract marks in which images flow, overlap, converge, and transfigure each other forming and dissolving contents embedded in them. Images composed in these works are extracted from daily news and other visual information gathered from various online and offline sources. Through a process of tracing, appropriated images are fragmented and composed together to create a long linkage of diverging visual narratives. I approach tracing as a way of excavating fragments of stories buried below the surface layer of the image. These ink drawings can be presented fully open or displayed three-dimensionally. Overlapping images creates a sense of floating mass that gradually reveal its content as the viewer gets closer to them.
