Joomi Chung

Almost There (2023) is a new series of gouache painting exploring personal memories and experiences as a passenger, temporary visitor, and a distant observer of public spaces. I am fascinated by transitory public places such as airports, highways, and construction sites. I am driven by how the architectural structures that shape the space to hold and sustain massive traffic and their metaphoric nuances for temporary, transient, and homeless state of being. This project is currently in progress.
